A love of books!
I have loved seeing how many bloggers use books when decorating. I love books and use them throughout the house. I think there is nothing like a stack of old books to give you the right color, height and effect you need on a table. Here are just a few places in my home where I have books. First, on my sidetable which I have set up as a desk, I have my collection of red vintage books between dog bookends and a few specials ones sitting out with one of my pairs of antique eyeglasses. I love collecting eyeglasses and opera glasses although they have become very pricey.
I keep a book which looks good with season on an easel by my woodstove. It is fun to have the book there to look through it whenever you like. Having it sit out means you grab it to brouwse through more often. This is a book of vintage Halloween art/postcards.
These are fake books which are storage containers. I bought them for the quirkiness of them. I have them set up for a pretty vingette on my bookshelves.
A bedroom is an unmissable place for books for me. I keep a tray filled with paperbacks which I have to read yet. It looks fun on the corner of the bed during the day. I read each morning and like having these on hand when I do finish a book. I pass many of my books on to my mother so I keep the ones I read on a shelf in our computer room.
On my nightstand are two books. First I keep my copy of Simple Abundance there and also my current read. Right now I am reading "Prospect Street" by Emilie Richards which I can recommend.
How could I not include one of the most talked about books for bloggers! I love my copy of "The French~Inspired Home" by Kaari Meng so much that I have it out on my bench in the bedroom to look through it everyday.
I will leave you with a favorite book saying of mine:
"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers."
~~ Charles W. Eliot ~~

Hi:
First of all, I hate all the letters you have to type to give you a comment. I always get it wrong and my comment goes away.
I love all your books. George thinks I should never buy books, just go to the library. WRONG! I used to watch my Dad constantly read and think "how can he do that"? Well guess what, now I do.
I remember you saying "Mother, stop reading". HaHa. Look at you now.
I see your sad little dog that was with you in the hospital when you had your tonsils out too.
Love you, Mom
I love seeing how you display your books throughout your home, Heidi! Books are always moving around here too ~ I think they add warmth to a home. ~ hugs, Lynda xo
I love having books around the place, it makes a house feel like a home. Thinking about it we seem to have books in every room of the house but I don't think they're as tastefully arranged as yours. Love the red books on the table, the colours are beautiful and warm.

Everything is so lovely Heidi! I love the magnifying glass you have.
I think my favorite are the red books. They are simply stunning, and I think I feel an idea brewing!
Books have always been like dear friends to me. I love them. I keep my two small bookcases on my side of our bed, where all of my lovelies are within an arm's reach without getting out of bed! Heaven!
I too love The French Inspired Home! Such a wonderful little book.
What a good idea featuring your books. Like Ragged Rose I have lots of books. But I KNOW that none of them are arranged as nicely as yours are. I do have groups of books together, but I don't think that counts. I really like the storage books.I would like those. Yours look so nice. Somone at one time suggested cutting out the middle of a book to make a hiding place or storage. When I recovered from the faint, I thought well that would be good if only one could bring them selves to do it:)
Off to check out the french inspired home.
Heidi,
I love books as well. I even have a few wooden fake books that I keep on display. Something about the coziness of a book adds so much warmth to a room.
Love,
Julie
Hello Heidi
I love your post. As an avid reader and lover of books, I was interested to read about the books that you enjoy and how you display them. I also have Simple Abundance at my bedside and read it every day.
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog. I am so glad that you did, as I feel sure that I am going to enjoy reading yours regularly.

Heidi,
As usuual I have been scrutinizing every minute detail of your pictures..haha! I love to peep into your world.Like you we are great book lovers in our family, books become friends with favourite ones visited regularly. I see you like Gervaise Phinn,I have read all his books and laughed out loud at them all.I also have Simple Abundance which was a gift from a good friend.I have to mention how interested in was in the Halloween book but also loved the little pumpkin buckets. Are they vintage? I also fell in love with the pretty pink plant holder on your bedside table. It's very lovely. My favourite book quotation is:
A ship is a breath of romance
That carries us far away
And a book is a ship of fancy
That could sail on any day.
Hugs, Angela
Wow Heidi, I am just loving your red book collection! I share the same passion for books both old and new but my red ones are my very favorites and I tend to gravitate towards them :)
Hugs,
Dena
I am a Simple Abundance devotee also. My copy is well-worn!

I, too, am a lover of old books. I enjoyed the pictures of your books displayed around your sweet home!
I saw all the Robin Paige books. I just became interested in them, when I read the second one featured Beatrix Potter. Do the books each feature a "real" person?
Have you read all those old, old books?
