Autumn sunshine...

Our weekend was spent in autumn sunshine. We decided to drive to Assen to visit the outdoor market and see what vegeatables looked good. We came home with corn on the cob so a little bit of summer sunshine. Then we decided to take a walk in the Govenour's Park across from the parking garage. We talked about doing this for a couple of years and never did. For some reason, we thought this was going to be a large park but it turned out to be very small and this was pretty much the nice corner there.

Still, it was pretty to see the sun shining through the trees which were still very green. Some areas have brillant autumn color and others are still very green in the countryside.

Cranberry Cottage is decked out in its autumn slendor and I keep discovering more and more toadstools in the garden. There are more this year than last.

Our table has a little quilt with an autumn display. I just loved this pumpkin's stem!

Just before we left on Friday, I baked a Norwegian apple cake. Now having this to enjoy is a bit of autumn sunshine in itself. Don't you just love the over abundance of apples at this time of year?

I hope you had a good weekend too. Did you get outdoors and enjoy autumn?

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree."

What a beautiful park. I'm glad you had some autumn sunshine, all we had was autumn clouds. I love the books in your previous post. I don't know how I missed it.

What a glorious weekend you had! I was busy with my bedroom project and did not get to enjoy any of this lovely autumn weekend. Your apple cake looks yummy. Is there a recipe for this that I could make here in the states?

I noticed how you (spelled) vegetables. LOL. Ok Alan. That apple cake looks yummy, and you should put that on the list mail
receipe book. You can see, I didn't do an appetizer, maybe cause I do not make any. Next time I talk to you, I should be back home.
Love you, Mom

Hi Heidi, sounds like another nice weekend for you two...it was almost 80 degrees here and the trees are at their best...went to lunch with my sisters and to the apple orchard. I love apple crisp!

I loved your post about the autumn weekend. There is just something about this seasonal change that resonates within us, don't you think? Your cake looks fabulous! And I love that little table quilt. Did you make it? I must say, autumns in Florida usually meant 80+ degree weather, and I don't miss that! I'm happy to have real fall weather. It's especially lovely at night with a sky full of stars or a full moon. :-) Stacey
