Blessed with blueberries!

We went to the berry farm this weekend. We picked a couple of different berries. We picked strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. I am so enjoying the sweet smells in my kitchen as the 6 pounds of blueberries are waiting to be washed and weighed. I will freeze most of them to use in the winter months although I will keep some out to be eaten fresh now with low fat yogurt.

This past Friday evening, I started a small stitching project which I saved to do while it was blueberries season. I had fun stitching up this quick design. Normally I put my handworking projects only on my other blog: http://needlenecessities.blogspot.com/ but thought it would be fun to show you this one here along with a photo I took at the berry farm of one of the bushes.

One after thought...the farmer's wife kindly let us have the few raspberries we were able to pick. They are having a very bad season for them with all the rain we have gotten here in Holland. She said she is hoping the autumn raspberries will do much better. We saw them on the vines on our way to the area with the strawberries and so far, they are looking very good as are the blackberries. I will be looking forward to picking them both in season.

Heidi your stitched blueberries are as beautiful as the fresh berries! I am looking forward to seeing how you finish this project. Don't you love fresh berries? They are one of my favorites, like you said with yogurt, but also with cereal, ice cream, in muffins or just alone!

Enjoy!

Yummy those blueberries look great, the real ones and the stitched ones. We have raspberry bushes here but we rarely get to save any as my grandchildren eat them as soon as they make an appearance. Fresh berries are so wonderful. I always enjoy your blogs. xoxo

How wonderful that you stitched a blueberries design and picked fresh blueberries. I love fresh blueberries and I'm always throwing them into something. Another beautiful work of yours.

I love thinking of you picking all those berries! And what a treat in the winter to eat them and remember the nice day you had in July.

Oh, how lovely to have picked all those delicious berries! I missed getting to the farmer's market this weekend but I think I'll take a drive to a nearby farm tomorrow so I can get some. Your sampler is adorable ~ and very appropriate! ♥
