The bee balm is already starting to bloom in the new area of our garden. I am thrilled with the pretty bright color and structure of this plant. It is supposed to be a plant that spreads rapidly and I am really hoping that it does. One of my favorite flowers is a thistle and I love the thistle like quality of the bee balm. And isn't it the sweetest name...especially if you happen to be a bee? The pedigree of Honey
Does not concern the Bee,
Nor lineage of Ecstacy
Delay the Butterfly
On spangle journeys to the peak
Of some perceiveless thing ~
The right of way to Tripoli
A more essential thing.

Does not concern the Bee ~
A clover, any time, to him
Is Aristrocracy ~

This is very pretty Heidi - such a rich color. And, yes, I love the name Bee Balm.

Balm is a comforting word if you think about it...
Enjoyed this post and poem!

How pretty! I have never grown Bee Balm before, but after seeing yours and reading the lovely poem to go with it, I may have to give it a try. Your posts are always such an inspiration to me! :o)
It's beautiful, Heidi. I used to have it in my garden. ♥
I have bee balm blooming right now, too, Heidi. I love it.
I thought of you and your cottage garden this morning while watching the birds in the back yard and enjoying the flowers. :o)
I love Bee Balm but have not yet got any in my garden, I'm definitely going to get some now! Thanks too for the poem.

I have had to give up bee balm. It is simply too cold on this hill for it to survive the winter. Maybe I should just buy a plant each year and grow it as an annual. Lovely posting.
