Old is new again.....

Remember back in September that I showed you this little chest of drawers that desperately needed a makeover?

Well, welcome to my reading corner which is in my bedroom. My old chest of drawers is new again.

Jos sanded down the cupboard for me and I bought color of paint called 'samenspel' which is perhaps best translated as 'harmony'. I almost dry brushed it on to achieve a very old vintage look.

While at this shop, I found these really pretty vintage Delft blue knobs and bought them for these drawers since I decided to use the previous set I had bought for a cupboard up at the cottage.

We are so pleased with how it turned out that we cannot wait to start on the pine nightstands in the bedroom now. We wanted to lighten up this furniture but not go with white. I was nervous that this would all turn out as I had planned in my head but have been really happy with the results. It was well worth all that sanding as it looks like a whole new piece of furniture and is new once again.

It is raining again here today so perhaps the best place to be in sitting in my reading corner enjoying a good book.

Oh Heidi, I love it! Truly a beautiful piece to be admired.
Thanks for popping by and giving your opinion. Sure is helpful to hear other points of view. Was giving some thought to your boring observation (not that you are boring, but that I'm concerned about my room being boring) and I am concerned about ME being bored. I really like changing things around because I do get bored easily so I want to go for serene and cozy NOT boring. I'm definitely NOT trying to achieve a catalog replicated look either. I want to mix up old and new, vintage and modern. An eclectic look but ...perhaps urban cottage farmhouse? My biggest "thing" is that I do not do clutter. Can't stand it. Don't like a bunch of "stuff" - makes me nervous.

Isn't that beautiful, I love what the name translates to. And harmony is what you have in your reading corner. Great job and I consur the knobs are beautiful. It's the little details that make things specil. Wnderful paint pretty knobs, and the effort to make it all look fresh again. Cheers to Jos he did a good job for you :)

What a worthwhile project! I love to change the look of my rooms by using what I already own - and paint is really the quickest way.
I enjoyed your Hallowe'en decorations. Yes, I decorate for Hallowe'en - mostly the front porch, but also around the kitchen table. We don't get many trick or treaters at all because we're in the country, but we wouldn't want to disappoint and wee goblins that might come around.

The cupboard turned out wonderfully and everything blends so well now, it looks like a new purchase, but not new...does that make ANY sense?? LOL You are all too creative and motivated for me!
