My 'missing you' shelf

My mother asked me in the comments on my last few photos in the bedroom about the bear my sister had made for me. I have it sitting together with a Precious Moments she gave me when my father passed away ("This too shall pass") and a stitched piece I made after I received the bear as a gift. I saw this chart in a magazine and thought it was perfect with the bear. I don't even remember when I stitched this but it is from when we lived out in the east of Holland so over 15 years ago. I added a doily my grandmother made after talking with my mother about it since I called it my 'missing you' shelf.

The verse on the stitched piece is:

"We never really grow old it seems
We keep in our hearts our fancies and dreams
And in a corner all tucked away
To the child we all were yesterday."

This is so special! How beautiful and meaningful! You made me tear up! These are the very reasons that I adore crafting! When we are gone, we leave momentos that remind loved ones of special memories! Your "missing you shelf" has done that for me!

Your "missing you" shelf is a wonderful tribute to your sister, your father and your grandmother. It's these little things that help us to remember special moments with our loved ones. ~ hugs, Lynda ♥

What a thoughtful idea to make a 'missing you' shelf Heidi - it's just lovely and I know you must have wistful feelings about your love ones each time you pass by.
The verse is beautiful too.

Glad you 'visited my' front porch! Of course I wish you could come in person and we could enjoy a cup of good English tea on a sunny afternoon. Until the mosquito season is over (I pray for the first frost to hurry up) I have tea in the screened gazebo in back of the house - so you're welcome there too.

Off to work in the garden this morning - sun is shining and it will be hot later. By the way my cousin Sue is married to a Dutchman, Johan. He is just the the most wonderful guy and we'll all have a fun time together as always when in England next month - can't wait!

Heidi,
Your thoughts and amazing creative ideas never cease to inspire me and your wonderful warm character comes through in everything you do. Celebrating the memories of your sister, your father and your grandmother in this way is really lovely. The piece of stitching seems to tie it all together. You are a very special person and I feel blessed to know you :>)
Hugs, Angela

Heidi - what a sweet post. I should do this to remember those who have a special place in my heart and remind me of them on a daily basis.
