Where did my week go?

I cannot believe how fast each week seems to fly by. Is it me or is 2008 going faster than 2007? I never seem to have enough hours in my day. We have been planning some little changes to our guest room before the honored guest arrives ~ my mother. I will be busy in the next few weeks working on that. We also have to finish the painting in the living room as the woodwork still needs done. We just hate missing weekends at Cranberry Cottage and are also painting up there. We are going there this weekend but may have to stay here the next. That woodwork needs finishing.

I was invited to tea and lunch with one of the ladies in my quilt group this week. I always enjoy spending time with her and her husband. He has an amazing eye for finding antiques and pretty vintage items. Recently, I had asked him about vintage cloches. He said he had a number of them to show me. Look at these two beauties which I bought from him! They will be fun to use for Easter.

If you visit my handworking blog, you already know that I am a lacemaker. I also purchased this piece from him as it reminds me of a piece of lace worked in silver. Don't forget to enlarge the photos as the detail on this silver dish is so pretty.

I am off to pack for our weekend at Cranberry Cottage. What are your plans for the weekend? I hope you will stop by to say hello and I wish you a fun weekend!

Hoi Heidi, even in het Nederlands: de stolpjes zijn er mooi maar het zilveren schaaltje is echt een plaatje. In Ierland zagen we porcelein wat aan kant deed denken, heel mooi.
The weather is not so fine but as you have to work in your cottage that is not so bad. We intend to go to Utrecht tomorrow, walking along the canals and do a little bit of shopping. But only when the sun is shining! Have a nice time in Cranberry cottage.

Just a quick "hi" this morning as I have an appointment and have to leave. Have a fabulous weekend at the cottage Heidi - hope you get the painting done!

The cloches, and especially the silver dish, are just lovely - and I know that must be a piece of your beautiful lace!!

I have a lot of new treasures from my visit to SuzAnna's and a fabric shop yesterday - now pulling everything together in the guest room - why don't you come visit some day soon? I'd love that and you's be really happy in that room I think!!

Talk more next week - and yes, there just aren't enough hours in a day!
Hugs - Mary.

Your friends must be so much fun to visit! The items you bought from him are so beautiful. I agree that the silver looks like lace - it's gorgeous. Have fun at Cranberry Cottage! I will just be stitching away here in dismal South Carolina!

Hello Heidi - I love those cloches - what will you put under them? And that silver dish does look like some of your beautiful handmade lace.

Hope your weekend at the cottage is wonderful and productive and that you have time to rest and refresh.

I hope you have had a lovely weekend at Cranberry Cottage! I can truly understand you not wanting to miss any weekends there. But where indeed does the time go...? I do agree that 2008 seems to move forwards so much faster the 2007 did (or is it just that we are "getting older"...?)

I do love you cloches! I am on a constant lookout for one (I do not have any yet), but never dreamed of being able to buy a vintage one. Cloches seem to be all the rage these days, and there are many different new ones about (only I have not found "mine"), but vintage ones are real treasures. Lucky you!

Hi Heidi
That silver tray is beautiful. It reminds me of lace too. How exciting for you to have your mother coming for a visit. I am sure she is just as excited as you are.
