A special thanks!

A dear sweet friend of mine, Lynda over at Hedgerow Hollow, gave me the friendly site award. Lynda and I have been in an online Yahoo list for a couple of years and she is the sweetest person. She has a kind and gentle heart that is really reflected in her home. Thank you Lynda for passing this award on to me.

I am going to pass this award on to a brand new blogger, Mandie. She is my sister's youngest and my little namesake (middle name as my sister thought it would be too confusing to have two Heidi's in the family). It is hard to believe that she is a wife and mother as it only seems yesterday that I would come stay at the house to watch she and her big sister Kristy. I spent a great deal of time with the girls when they were very young and loved being with them. Now they are themselves raising children and Mandie is a newlywed who's husband was just deployed this week. She started a blog now.

To me, friendly is not a word but an action. It is only visible if you do pick it up and pass it on. We often underestimate it. A smile or just a word or two can make all the difference to a person. I hope you will pass it on today and stop over at Mandie's blog to say hello. You will find her at http://armywifeismylife.blogspot.com/.

If you visit me often, you will remember Dagi, my furbaby. I could not resist showing you this. We were later getting ready this morning as my husband has to drive to Belgium for an afternoon of company meetings and dinner. Dagi was in form today and wanting us to do nothing but pay attention to him. I started to make the bed and he followed me around it as I worked. Then he thought it was time to out smart me! He got up into the last corner I needed to do and laid there so I could not finish. He would not move even when I pulled the sheets over him.

He loves to give me that 'Just try it!' look so I just gave up and walked away. That always works as he follows me. Score: cat ~ one, cat owned person ~ one. I led him to my husband and then went back to make the bed. Now who out smarted whom?

A few responses:
I want to thank everyone for all the kind comments about my Christmas decorations. I do hope that if any bloggers make the Christmas charger (plate) display that you will share a photo of yours on your blog. It is something that can be made so personal and I would love to see them.

Julie ~ I used 2 candles so I could use lots of ornaments which create a circle then in turn. Play with the idea and create your own because everything could work. I hope you have that camera fixed and ready though so I can see it!

Regina ~ I am looking forward to seeing your decorations. I will be sure to check it out next week!

Tanya ~ It was so nice to see that you stopped by for a visit!

Nan ~ The cord is behind the mirror. We used it as a way to hang the wreath itself but lifting on of the hooks loose and placing the cord behind before hanging it again. Worked perfectly and this way only a small portion of the cord is visible at the bottom of the mirror by the plug. Life is busy with also having created a tutorial for my other blog from a project I did for my quilt group so I have not been able to email you about the other blog idea. I will do so later on today or tomorrow. I have not forgotten you.

Marie ~ Good to hear from you and that things are okay. I will look up your email address today on the site.

Angela ~ What a Christmas it would be if the get~together was now. I am just so excited about this coming May.

Congratulations on your award! And I will pop over and visit Mandie again, for sure. No, my camera cable isn't fixed yet...sigh. But we'll figure something out.

Love,
Julie
p.s. - the word verification wasn't showing at first. Stinkin' blogger.

Dagi is gorgeous! It sounds like you had one of my typical mornings. Two of the younger kittens, Kamu and Mrs. Wrigley, always like to hop all over the bed when I am making it. Then this morning I walked through the dining room to the kitchen for coffee, and Kamu jumped at me from behind the dining room curtain! They are so playful and funny.

Heidi - That Dagi is just so cute and looks so sweet all tucked in.

Congrats on your award, you deserve it.

Your holiday decorations are lovely and you've got a knack for putting things together. I hope that you continue to share corners of your home.

Hugs - Karen

Congrats on the award and of course you deserve it. That you gave it to Mandie shows what a caring Aunt you are. That KING is only a cat in your eyes. He knows he is royalty. HaHa.

Your award is well deserved as you have been very friendly to me :) The newbie person and wanna be blogger.
I love that Mirror and the candles on the edge. Your wreath is wonderful in that spot very posh. Gave me great ides for my teeny tiny entry way too.
I thing Dagi is still very charming even if he's a brat at times. My cats "help" me make the bed and they out number me:)

Congrats. you really do deserve this award.....and any others being given out!

I did write to Mandie - she is lovely and her Jason will be in my thoughts often until his safe return.

Your Mom's snowmen - wow, she wasn't kidding when she said she had a collection!!

That Dagi is a little devil by the sound of it - a sweet one though and great company I'm sure. My DH is away for a couple of days too, and next week will be in Fla. all week. Yesterday I stopped in Barnes & Noble - picked up a travel book on Holland to look up Amersfoort while I had a nice cup of Earl Grey. It's such a neat looking historic town and even mentioned the 'wall houses' like your home. I really want to visit Holland!
Hugs - Mary.

Ok, we have all had a good laugh at Dagi!!! What a pistol! I love that second picture! Sarah thought he might be saying, "Hey, stop blinding me with that flash!"

So nice of you to give Mandie encouragement for her blog. I just asked her on Friday why she had not started one. We all must have bugged her enough she wanted us off her back!

Dagi looks very pleased with himself! When my two cats were kittens, I once made the bed with one of them hiding between the duvet cover and duvet, it was a while before I realised what the lump was! They are very stubborn! Congrats on the well-deserved award Heidi!

I got your email and will post the bourbons off to you asap! I also treated myself to the Jane Eyre series on DVD and I'm now a very happy bunny!

Heidi - I'm showing my 'candle project' on today's post and have linked to you!

I'm getting in decorating mode now - lots to do inside today then the tree etc. in the gazebo and on the porch over the weekend.

Have a great weekend - are you off to Cranberry Cottage?

Hi Heidi, Imagine making a bed with two kitties!!! It becomes a morning affair since I have to continue to go back to get yet another section done.

Dagi, is just too cute - love the pictures.
