Thanksgiving greetings and reflections...

Thanksgiving greetings to all the American bloggers! What a wonderful tradition this day is. It can be celebrated by all of us around the world as it is good to stop at least one day a year and really reflect on all the people and things in our lives to be thankful for. I am thankful that a year ago, I decided to start blogging. It has enriched my life in many ways. Not only do I stop in a moment and appreciate more, I also have met so many wonderful new people through blogging! It is great to be able to visit with friends old and new. We get a dialog going through our comments to each other. I want to take this moment to say that I really do value each and every one of you! I am so grateful for each of you who visit with me. I love reading your comments so thank you for being part of my life.

Today was the drawing for my birthday give~away. I wrote all your names out and put them in a bowl...

I drew a slip of paper and the winner is...

...Diane...Now if you read her comment on that day's post, you can imagine how I had a good laugh when I opened this to reveal her name. She is away at her parents house right now so she won't know she won for a little while. She needed this pick me up too as her husband is overseas for a couple of months and I know she is missing him terribly over the holidays along with her three children. I will be putting the fob and napkins in the mail tomorrow Diane. Enjoy them!

Now on a different note, this is a funny postcard for my family as they gobble their turkey. My niece's husband Mitch is a nut and put a song on my mother's blog called "Clean your gun". I told my mother he has to get that off there. It is no surprise to her how I feel about guns anyway. I saw this while looking for a vintage postcard to use for this entry. So Mitch...this one's for you!

Well, I just put Fawn's poundcake in the oven and it is now baking. As I was mixing it, I was thinking about her and how Thankful I am that she gave me her two beautiful daughters. Now they have extended my family to two wonderful men, (our soldiers) and my three very special Great Grandchildren. They will be on their way here this afternoon.
I will be sure to tell Mitch to look at your entry for him.
I love you both, Mom

Happy Thanksgiving!
I just found your blog through Nan's blog and what a delight. I shall visit often. I tried to get to your needle work blog, but no luck.
I gave up my blog for a bit, as life was just so hectic, but I may have to start it up soon.
Our DD is currently living in Gangelt, Germany, but she and the girls go to a school in Brunsum (?sp), Holland.
I'll visit again.

Heidi, First of all I have to thank you for thinking of me as you were scouring the internet looking for something cute and cuddly to send me for the holidays. As I looked at that fabulous turkey, I had an epiphany; that armed turkey can do more for the defense of the Netherlands than your entire armed forces, since he has twice the fire power. Happy Thanksgiving from your gun loving, tree hating, welfare dispising nephew from the only place in the world who can claim to have once been its own country and is still the biggest and best place on earth...TEXAS (we still shoot people who try and steal our property, hurt our families or neighbors and are still able to remain generally courteous, that's funny, we still have one of the lowest crime rates on earth too? And just for a laugh, its legal! Love you, Mitch

Heidi,
What a great postcard. i definitely would not mess with that turkey in a hurry. I know how much you miss your family and family celebrations like these must be especially difficult so i thought i would cheer you up with a few jokes...haha!
When little Timmy was asked what he was thankful for at Thanksgiving, he replied: I'm thankful I'm not a turkey...haha and, How can you tell a male turkey from a female turkey? The male turkey is the one holding the remote control! :>) Enough frivolity. Congratulations to Diane for winning the birthday give away, she will be thrilled.
Love Angela

NO WAY!!!! Ok, I am the most surprised of ALL!!! I just signed on and got the BIGGEST surprise! WOOHOO!!! Who would have thought I would win! Well, I can't say anyone wanted that bee-yoo-tee-ful fob more than MOI! I am so thankful for so many things, I could write pages upon pages. But, thanks to you my dear friend, Heidi for your talents and your friendship that has come to mean so much to me is such a short period of time! May God continue to bless you and your family!
