Three men and a crown...

This is another part of my Christmas decorations I just love putting out each year. I found the three kings of the Orient marked down at a garden center and snapped them up. I did not buy the only other piece of this nativity that was still available which was Mary holding the baby. I always regretted that and they are no longer being made. I am thinking about measuring my kings and trying to find a baby in a manger to place with them. For years, I have used a gold crown in which I place a candle.

"We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star"

Take a closer look at the Wise Men. They are on a Cathedral Windows quilt I used for my quilt group as the Christmas in July project a number of years ago.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! I am off to Cranberry Cottage in a windy and rainy Holland but hope your weekend is wonderful in your part of the world.

Heidi, your crown is a great idea since you don't have baby Jesus. I like the figures, they are so well done. As you know I bought my Nativity scene in Holland, then I bought them the next year for Kristy and Mandie. The details are so good. IFFFF I find mine in the attic, it will be out soon. I am leaving most of my Christmas things unpacked this year.
Have fun at the cottage and be safe on the crazy Dutch roads.
Love you, Mom

Heidi - can I join your family - you are all so positive and loving!

The Kings are spendid and your quilt gorgeous - I like the candle in the crown - a good idea.

I've responded to your comment today on my blog post - that way I could talk to you, Kristen and Mom all together!!

Have a great time at the cottage - hope the weather improves. Lovely here - chilly mornings but the sun soon warms it up and the falling leaves look pretty. We'll be raking again this weekend! I'm off to pick Bob up at the airport - he's been in Pittsburgh for a couple of days. Bye, bye for now.

They are perfect! I love them. Even though you don't have the other nativity pieces, I find something wonderful in just them. I can't explain, but it is very moving to see those three kings alone. And the crown is quite, quite perfect, Heidi.

What does your mom mean about the crazy roads??
