Mirror, mirror on the wall...

Do you have moments when you see something in a shop and just know you have to buy it? I had a moment like that last week. It was school break here and a friend and I had promised her teenage daughter to have a high tea when she was off school. The place we went to is called the Esperterhoeve. It is a shop in a beautiful old Dutch farm with a little cafe at the back. After having eaten until we needed to shop off our calories, I discovered a set of beautiful black mirrors. I saw them in the distance and knew I had to buy them. They would really bring out our headboard just perfectly. Jos has now jokingly (I hope) said he hopes we have enough mirrors. *grins*

I had hoped to be giving you an update on my thyroid condition by now as I had my next appointment at the hospital. I had been given the choice of either having surgery or trying radioactive therapy. I choose the therapy which will take up to a year before we know if it is effective. It means being in isolation for most of March. If this is not successful, I will still need surgery in a year's time. I do not have hyper or hypo thyroidism which would have made it easier to treat with medication instead.

The specialist decided to repeat the ultrasound since the hospital where I am now going did not do the first one. I went to have it done this week thinking it would all be routine but ended up having to have a biopsy done right after they finished. I am afraid we are back to waiting. The appointments are set up for the radioactive therapy but it now all depends on how the results of the biopsy turn out.

Heidi, I'm so glad you treated yourself - and Jos - to the mirrors, they look gorgeous on your wall.

I love mirrors and feel they are really a requirement in a smaller house - which mine is - as they open up the rooms. One of the two I've hung in the newly painted hallway, reflects the entire back garden and gazebo somehow - it certainly makes a huge difference as one passes through that small space!

I'll reply to your e-mail soon dear - I'm painting chairs today!
Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we wish good health for you soon.
Huge hugs - Mary (and Bob).

Leave it to Jos. You can always move the three mirrors if you want to. These sure look good with the headboard.
Sorry we didn't get to talk much today, We were stuck allllll day in that stupid place. I hate getting taxes done.
Talk to you tomorrow.

And no, one can never have "enough" mirrors. :-)))

Best wishes with your continuing thyroid condition appointments.

Heidi,
Your mirrors are beautiful. It's so nice when you come across a find like this. I love when that happens.
When I wake I always thank the good Lord that I'm well and ask to help those in need. I will be sure to include you in my morning chat.

Your mirrors are amazing - ornate, but overly so. I think they do indeed set off your headboard nicely.

For all our complaints, we take our American health care system for granted. Things are taken care of in fairly quick order. I hope for your sake that you will move along more quickly and that these current health issues will soon be behind you.

How do you plan to occupy your time in isolation? Quilting? How many quilts can you make in a month?

Of course you had to have those mirrors! They're perfect there!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such a run around this week. It's hard when you've settled on a course of action and then find that you may have to step back and take another way. I'm glad to hear, though, that you are getting better care - so perhaps this detour will lead to something more helpful to you. My fingers are crossed and I'm thinking of you xoxox.

I don't think you can ever have enough mirrors, Heidi and I don't think anyone - except maybe our DH's, could have left those mirrors in the shop. They are far too beautiful. They really finish your bedroom off perfectly.

I will be thinking of you whilst you have your treatment. I really hope it will be successful and you won't need the surgery :>)
Warm hugs, Angela
