Easter or Christmas?

Easter was very early this year but also very surreal. On Easter morning we awoke to snow and it felt more like we should walk into the living room to light the Christmas tree than set the table for Easter brunch. Mother Nature has been surprising us this year. We have had no real winter to speak of and now that it is approaching the end of March, we have winter at last.

I have mentioned before that we have a postage stamp as a garden. Here you can see how tiny it is. That is the reason we love to escape to the woods at Cranberry Cottage. There is space and peaceful surroundings there. But alas, this weekend, we wanted to get the painting in the living room finished so we stayed here. It is now completed. I also got a quilt UFO finished yesterday which you can see here. We had a quiet Easter, just the way we like it...

How was your Easter weekend?

I am going to leave you today with some words by Emily Dickinson which I find very appropriate for our spring so far...

"A little madness in the Spring
Is wholesome even for the King."

I love, love love your little garden Heidi and wish I had a small one such as this to care for!!
We are finding our garden so much work now - especially this Spring when we can't water anything and it's going to be so difficult to keep things clean (furniture, gazebo etc.) when the annual covering of that bright green pollen arrives soon!

You have made your small space very inviting - it probably has taken on a new dimension in the snow - Nature is always surprising us with beautiful scenes. The ordinary becomes different for a brief time with color changes and new textures covering everyday objects.

Anyway dear, hope it's warming up for you now - away with the chills, time to bring on Spring everywhere in the northern hemisphere! I wore short sleeves, crop pants and flip flops for Jasmin's egg hunt Sunday - 79 degrees - certainly not an elegant Easter outfit but I was so warm and comfort prevailed in the garden!!
Hope your week is good.
Hugs - Mary.

I think the weather for Easter was crazy all over the world. Your little pocket garden looks very pretty in the snow. We live in the woods, so gardening is a challenge - I leave it mostly wild.

Hey, I am sooooo happy to finally see the beautiful gate. I know you love snow, but ok, enough. I don't want it there when I arrive please. I wonder if you would have had it at the cottage. Maybe you were mean't to stay home for it. It looks pretty.
Love you, Mom

Heidi, how do you make coddled eggs? I have egg coddlers but dont get them out very often. And the creamy raisin bread sounds delicious, would you mind sharing the recipe?

Groetjes Sonja

Hello Heidi
It sounds like home was the perfect place to be this very wintry Easter. Isn't it bizarre? I do feel sorry for all the tender little plants out in our gardens just as they thought it was warming up, the snow comes! Take care

Dear Heidi,
Your garden is sweet...can't wait to see pictures of it when it's in bloom and the weather is nice!

I haven't been blogging much lately...I have so much I need to accomplish around my home that I haven't had the motivation to blog about anything.

Take care...
Love, Kim

Your garden is beautiful, and it;s size seems just right. The snow lends a charm, but your right it's spring for goodness sake. It snowed here in the MidWest USA, but it didn't stick. I wish it had, for then the cold would not have fel qutie to alien. We just want spring to come. Better get busy and dust, before Mom arrives. But I bet it's already gone :)
And the gate is beautiful, I also like

It looks like a winter wonderland Heidi! We never did get any snow this year. I think your garden is absolutely lovely! Something doesn't have to be grand in size to be magnificent, and your garden is!

Heidi I think your garden is lovely, even in the snow :). Looks like you have done wonders with the space and I would love to sit there with you, enjoy some tea and talk about quilting.

Hugs - Karen

Your garden looks adorable, Heidi! It's similar to our courtyard. Easter was very cold for us but thankfully it was sunny and the snow held off until yesterday. It's still very wintry here ... no real signs of spring yet.

Heidi,
Your garden may be postage size but as we say in the states, it has 'pizazz'.

Thank you for the visit and sweet comment....my twin granddaughter, Erin, is giving me a new spring look....drop by and see what you think.....Betty
